for Christmas i wanted to surprise andy with a day trip out of town...

it had been FAR too long since we had gotten away just the two of us,

and i wanted to try something NEW AND FUN.

i decided on san jose.

the idea was to just hop in the car for 2 hours, and see a shark's game.

it was amazing.

i found us the perfect seats online, and we had a blast!

after the game (sharks WIN), we hit some local bars.

downtown san jose was just beautiful, and full of youthful energy!

i wish we could have stayed longer!

as an added bonus, one of andy's friends (simon) was in town and we had lunch the next day!

new years, new cheers

it's a new year.

a fresh start.

i have always been big on them. not on resolutions, really...

just the whole idea of a "fresh start"

you can do anything you want to, last year is wiped clean.

last year i let a lot of time pass me by.

i was busy, but i wasn't really doing much.

i lived my life just fine, and i am grateful for that time...

but somewhere along the way i became lazy...

i became too tired to do things that used to make me happy.

crafting, blogging, reading, and writing took a back seat.

i have no regrets of course...

i had a wonderful year.

one in which i fell in love with the most amazing man.

one in which i tested my personal strength more than i ever thought i would.

but i want MORE this year.

and i think that's okay.

i am actually pretty certain it is.

i remember 2009, and how hard i pushed myself to make all my dreams come true.

at the end of the year, i felt SO proud.

i remember 2010 and how i felt looking back, and how it motivated me to keep pushing.

2011 was a good year, but i want more for 2012.

i want to set NEW goals to push myself further...

cook, read, write, love, share.

those are the things i want MOST this year.

of course, there are little goals attached to each category, but i want to take it slow.

i don't want to let myself down this year.

in a way, i feel like i did last year.

January's Goals

-Art Journal again. My lovely friend Viv introduced me to art journaling, and I miss how inspired it made me feel. i look forward to writing my thoughts down in a creative way again...

-Read my fancy cookbooks. Each year my mom buys me at LEAST 4 fancy new cookbooks... and i leaf through them, but i never take the time to READ what other chefs have to say. i want to.

-Drink Less. Truth be told, i love my wine. it's so delicious. but i realized sometime last year, that it made me a little lazier. and the couch became my friend. along with criminal minds and popcorn. i want to get OFF the couch, and start living my life again.

i have more for the following months, SO many more...

but i want to take it slow, i don't want to bite off more than i can chew

this blog has really blessed my life.

i know i stayed away a lot last year,

but the comments and emails i have received from readers

have given me something i couldn't have asked for...

THANK YOU to everyone out there who bothers to read this.

i love you, and i look forward to sharing 2012 with all of you <3

i can't believe it's almost Christmas...

this year has just flown by, hasn't it?

i am grateful for each moment...

but more grateful for a new fresh start

your life can be anything you want it to be, you just have to remember that

oh the world will throw us curve balls, and we may not be ready...

but it's the grace that we handle those balls with, that make us the women we will be tomorrow.

i believe in a higher power

a God who created me with a purpose in mind

my ONE goal next year, is to discover what that purpose is,

how to serve Him and my community by finding my PURPOSE

i am thankful for another great year...

but even more thankful i have another one to follow...

some days i feel a little trapped...

by what i want, and what others want from me

it's so easy for me to get stuck inside my own head.

the refreshing note, is to know that EVERYONE feels this way,

at some point in their lives.

i dream of hopping in the car, and hitting the road

turning up the radio, and just drowning out the world

i used to love to go to the movies alone, just leave my cares outside of the theater

nowadays, i am almost AFRAID to be alone

i don't know when this happened...

but i don't want to let it happen anymore.

i used to use this space for ME.

for my thoughts, hopes, cares, and dreams...

but after a while, i ran out of things to say

in a way, i become a little boring...

in a another way, i became exciting in my own little world

but i don't want to forget about ME anymore...

i am sure somewhere out there, someone can relate...

it's been a good year

i have laughed, loved, and cried this year.

i can't believe that it's all coming to a close.

i always get giddy thinking of thanksgiving, and christmas.

in truth, fall and winter are my favorite season.

i have been lucky and blessed this year, and have expierenced so much.

this year will be andy's and i's SECOND christmas.

i can't believe we get to celebrate together again.

the weather is perfect this year too.

there is just something so special about california.

it's been a warm and mild summer, and fall has been just perfect.

it's STILL 66 degrees out and sunny.

i couldn't ask for more...

As I mentioned earlier this week, it's been a ROUGH one.

And that was only Tuesday.

It's Friday now and I am just finally starting to feel the clouds lift a bit.

I am in my first VERY serious relationship.

The kind where you see each other often, without worrying when the next time will be.

The kind where you buy 51 inch Plasma TV's together.

And the kind where you're so comfortable, you start throwing caution to the wind.

I love my boyfriend. And I would venture to say that he is one of the most amazing things that has ever happened to me... but that doesn't always mean that every single day is going to be peachy.

In fact, it means that each day is going to be a new lesson.

A new opportunity to learn how to be a better partner for the person you love.

In short, I have been a little overwhelmed trying to do EVERYTHING right.

But Andy doesn't want that. And neither do I.

I want to do everything in life the way that makes ME comfortable.

If I am happy, he is happy.

And of course, it goes both ways.

Last night I picked up this classic book.

From Andy's bookshelf.

How much do I LOVE that my boyfriend has already read this book?!

So much.

We have actually both decided to read it.

To freshen up.

To learn new forms of communication.

And most of all, how to understand what each other is thinking and feeling...

so that we can LOVE each other with an open, beautiful heart.

Crazy Town

This weekend my mom and I took a little trip out of town.It was Mother's Day after all. Please excuse all of the pictures, but I just can't wait to share!!!

Our weekend started Friday night when Mom picked me up and I took her to dinner at Andy's restaurant.

It was so delicious.

Saturday morning we hit the road and headed for Reno, NV

Once in town, we hit the shops and then went home to get all fancy for the casino.

Mom looked so beautiful.

And then I attacked the casino buffet. It was the largest buffet I have ever seen,

and I couldn't resist all of the treats..

Sunday we took our time driving home and went through my favorite town...Truckee.I ate at my favorite pizzeria and bought fudge for the boy.All in all...i love you momma.

(source) I don’t understand how people can be so irrational sometimes. how we let our emotions get the best of us… to the point where we are hurting the people we claim to love. we do love them right? even though we don’t always show it? sometimes i am not so sure. i think that love is self less. love is giving, and it is patient. but how easy is it for us to forget this concept?
very easy, I’m afraid. It’s true that we treat the ones we love, the worst sometimes. maybe because we know that we can get away with it.
it’s easy to take the “easy way out” sometimes. but we must learn to stick through it. be kind and be patient, and be understanding. pick and choose your battles, because there will be many obstacles in life. you can be as happy as you WANT to be. or you can be as sad as you LET yourself be…

I am admittedly a meat and potatoes kind of girl.Last week I had the pleasure of dining at Iron Steaks!It's a local little restaurant in my neighborhood, and they specialize in hand cut steaks!Another huge plus, there is no corkage fee!I shared a porterhouse cut with my mom and we had it crusted in blue cheese. it was so yummy.I also had TWO Serrano pepper lemon martinis.So delicious.I love a good cocktail ♥Oh and they served FRIED bread to start...I mean, heaven in my meowth.Happy Wednesday loves!!

Saturday I surprised Andy with a little trip out of town to Tahoe!He does so much for me and I just love seeing a smile on his face.I haven't been to the snow in almost 3 or 4 years. I can't remember honestly...I rented us a little Villa at the Marriott, and it was beyond beautiful.A full size kitchen for me to whip up meals, and a jacuzzi bathtub in the bedroom...Talk about romance!! I love hair...It's big, it's bouncy...That being said, I have had a ROUGH time with it lately.I had a rough time at the salon my last go around and ended up fixing it myself.That being said, my hair is a little "over treated"...So I mixed up this "at home" remedy and I wanted to share with you.I love the results.Try it today <3

So this past weekend we decided to really prove that...We took ourselves out of town for a little mini holiday.It was so much fun, and it made me realize even more what a partner I have found in him...I started feeling sick about half way through our weekend, but Andy was so understanding.I adore him for it!Yay for wine tasting, and yay for love ♥

The sun is out again.But it's still freezing cold.I have been keeping to myself a lot lately.Just figuring my head out.I keep making these lists, but I never follow through.This would have bothered me a LOT a few months ago.But I have just came to terms with it.You can't schedule EVERYTHING.You just have to let some things go... How do you guys re-focus? I have been thinking more and more about picking up my art journal...Any suggestions?

Today, I bring you a simple little DIY.

Borrowed from my DEAR freind Heather.

She's so inspiring, and so creative, and I couldn't resist sharing this amazing trick with you guys!!

Here is a fun little way to use your man's shirt in a pinch, and make it into a cute little tube top!!

1ST: Button shirt up, except the top two to three buttons, depending on your bra size.

Step into shirt.

2ND: Pull shirt up, like a tube top!

3RD: Cross each arm in front, to create a waist...

or a belted look..

The sleeves may be a little short for you to make a knot in the back, so I used a hair tie to keep it in place!

Then tucked the ends down so that it didn't look "off".

But for most, you'll be able to just do a simple tie/tuck in the back ♥

I styled mine with a cute little cardigan and skinny jeans, but you can do so many different fun looks!

Try it today!

Gotta Find You (PHOTOS GALORE)

I had the best weekend ever.

Andy worked on Valentine's Day, so he planned a special surprise for me.

He booked a room at the Citizen Hotel.

The place is incredible and it has ALWAYS been a dream of mine to stay there....

I had no idea where we were going until we pulled up and I screamed pure joy...

Later that night, we both got super dressed up and fancy...
Andy made reservations for the Grange restaurant...
It was so yummy.
We ordered tons of food and filled our bellies.
My favorite was the rib eye steak.
Delish.

The next day Andy ordered Breakfast in Bed and we snuggled until it was time to check out.

We had coffee at Chocolate fish. Seriously, the most amazing coffee EVER.

Afterwards, Andy took me to the Crocker Art Museum where we were both blown away.

We had a yummy lunch, and such a wonderful time...

First, a big thank you to Shawni for inviting me to do a guest post on her fabulous blog. I’m super honored and so excited to be posting for you!!

I’m Ashley, the girl behind A Hasty Life.

It is super snowy here in the Midwest! Quite a blizzard out there. I think they are estimating 20 inches in my neck of the woods. Which is the most we’ve seen in over 20 years, or something like that.

So what do I do during a winter weather advisory?

I’ve been blogging, working on homework, reading (for class of course, no time for pleasure reading) eating, watching television, taking pictures of the snow accumulation, drinking green tea (which I just discovered I liked…I drink the Lipton mixed berry kind…I also like the Lipton Blueberry White tea…I’m really getting into tea and I don’t even like tea flavor. I could never drink ice tea…gross.)

I’d love to go make a snow man, or go sledding, or go outside and take some better pictures (close ups of the snow and ice) but the snow is falling so hard and it is crystallized so it stings when it hits your face. Maybe after the snow stops falling I can have some snow fun.

Oh, I’m also going to enjoy a hot cup of hot chocolate today. Despite being on a diet. But I have discovered a hot chocolate that is only 20 calories. You heard be right, 20 CALORIES! I’m not even kidding. It is by Nestle. All you dieters run to the store and get ya some.

Okay, so sometimes I get really bored at work.

Sure, I have things to do, but they're all yucky. And not as much fun as using my little creative bone.

Yesterday I discovered that I had already LOST my January planner.

I lose things often.

I think it's because I am always on the go.... or maybe that's just my little excuse ♥

I have a lot going on in life, and I NEED a planner. So I made a little one from scratch!

I took old time punch sheets and cut them to the size of an envelope.

Then I labeled each one, and cut out some cute little hearts from a magazine and taped them onto each card.

Andy and I went to Seattle a couple of weekends ago.

We had such an amazing time. Eating amazing food, and drinking wine with his brother.

On our last night in town, we decided to stay in a hotel and have ourselves a little date night.

We both got dressed up, super fancy, and hit the town...

This is our yummy food.

It was beyond amazing.

I was so happy to have a night out in a beautiful city with my handsome man.

With Andy, things are just so easy.

I have been neglecting my blog. Lately. And all of the wonderful ladies that i have met. Relationships have dwindled, and it's really my fault. I have just been ENJOYING all of my free time. Oh, and I was pretty much deathly ill. But I am back.

I sent out three VERY large orders today. Makes me so happy. I feel so lucky to have my Etsy shop. I just love packing everything up and throwing in extra goodies.

I have to start working on some new items very soon. It's funny, I have more free time, and yet it feels like I have less.

I love to people watch. This photo was taken while in Seattle and I just loved the lighting. People are beautiful. Especially in social situations.

The sun is out today, and so I felt like a mini outfit post.

I love this shirt! My beautiful friend Alicia made it. She lives in NEW YORK now and I miss her so much. She created this from a men's button up shirt. So awesome.

Tomorrow afternoon, Andy and I are hopping on a little plane and heading to Seattle, WA!

I really really can't wait.

I purchased the tickets as a Christmas gift to Andy. His brother Ryan lives up there. He's a chef too!

Andy and I both work two jobs, so it's going to be amazing for us to get out of town.

We are going to see my family, cook with his brother, and eat eat EAT.

Fairly often enough, I like to share some of my new obsessions with you guys.

Gilly Hicks. A little store owned by the ever so famous Abercrombie brand. Gilly Hicks sells MOSTLY underwear and sleepwear. And I would spend all day in there. I recently purchased 15 pairs of undies, pajama pants, 2 bras, fragrance, lotion, and two camis for $120.00!!

Everything in the store is 40% OFF! Go shop... seriously.

Broccoli Romanesco. I am OBSESSED. It's like broccoli, but has the texture of cauliflower. This is probably my favorite winter veggie. You can do so much with it. Expect a recipe soon my dears. Pictured below is a Butter Bean & Gorgonzola Gratin.

My Moleskin Monthly Planners. One for each month. I am a huge note taker and list maker. This is perfection. I am pretty sure my best friend Liz used these last year. Super awesome. You should pick one them up TODAY.

Mondays are for Fresh Starts...

I know that i have been pretty MIA the month of December, but I promise in the new year, I will be more present. Blogging has been so important to me because of all of the amazing, special, supportive women I have met through it. I just have felt lately that I have needed to focus more on ME and figuring out where I want to go in life.

I quit my second job. It's the smartest thing that I have done in a LONG while. I can't believe I will be gaining back 30 hours a week. On top of that I will have MORE energy to cook at home, clean, socialize. and craft. I will miss the restaurant with my whole heart, but I know and feel that this is what's best for me. I look forward to the journey towards discovering new possibilities.

I started a cross stitch project on Sunday. I am SO excited! ♥ I'll let you know how it all goes!

I have a secret to share. Well, I actually have three. I know I have mentioned BEFORE that I really enjoy sample beauty items, and because of the holiday season, stores are handing them out like CRAZY.

I have been testing out tons of them, and I have found three new loves in my life.

Tarina Tarantino Pearl Glow Primer

I have always been a fan of Benefit's "That Gal" primer, but I find myself constantly running out of the product, in a very short amount of time. I feel like the focus is places more on the packaging, and less on the product. So this time around, I decided to test my luck and go with something NEW. Enter Tarina Tarantino Pearl Glow Primer. This baby is amazing. It turns my skin into a fresh canvas, and illuminates my skin with a healthy glow.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

I am not usually a foundation gal. I pride myself on wearing tinted moisturizer, and letting my skin breathe. But as the years have gone by, my skin has changed. Lately I have been noticing that my tinted moisturizer leaves me oily after just an hour or so. Imagine my excitement when I tested a 7 day sample of this baby. After LONG days at the office and a LONG night at the restaurant, my foundation was STILL in place and still looking very fresh.

Smashbox O-Plump Gloss

I am self admittedly a lip gloss JUNKIE, turned lip stick fan, turned BACK to lip gloss LOVER after this little guy. Never before have I loved a lip gloss so much. I love the natural pink it lends my lips and that the color lasts for hours.

Over the years, I have developed QUITE the collection of necklaces, rings, and earrings. It's so easy to lose track of them, or have them become a tangled mess. So I took two really "everyday" items, and transformed them into something that works for me...

First, I took a tie rack, and taped the pegs off to paint the rest of the wood. I used lavender, to add a nice feminim touch. Then I just hung my necklaces up on each of the pegs.

& THEN, I took a canvas, and some extra fabric that I had laying around...I covered the canvas and hung my earrings up in the fabric. Now I know exactly what I have, and where to find it.

Silly, but this made me feel a ton better.

Last night was date night. Andy and I both work two jobs and we actually don't have a FULL day off together, EVER. So we try and make Tuesday nights special. We spent the night with our friends, picking out a Christmas tree and drinking Sailor Jerry.

After putting the tree up, Andy made me dinner. Stir fry. Yum Yum.

Then we ate animal crackers and TRIED to watch Shrek 3. But ended up going to bed early.

i had a rough weekend. i won't bother you with all of the details, but things were a little more up and down than i would have liked. i guess that's the problem with expectations. you spoil yourself on good/happy times, and crash when things aren't 100 percent rosy.

i believe most of this can be controlled by a positive attitude and disposition. but i can't always force myself to see the brighter side. even worse, you can't force others around you to see the brighter side either.

i guess it's true...

it feels bad now, but it's gonna get better. someday.

how do you deal with your bad days? when it feels like nothing is going to change? and there's no way you could feel better. any time soon.

Guest Post DIY Meowwwww

Season’s Greetings! I’m Iris from I-Zilla The Terrible and I’m so honored that my lovely friend Shawni has asked me to guest post on her blog and kick off the holiday season with a little DIY. So what are we making today? Christmas cards!

This DIY definitely calls for creativity and individuality. You can keep it simple and sweet or go all out. The possibilities are endless so don’t be afraid to deviate and try something different! In addition to the materials and directions I’ve listed I will also mention some alternatives. With Christmas approaching money can be tight so hopefully you can use things you already have around the house rather than going out and buying brand new supplies. For this particular card we’ll be making hanging ornaments!

What you’ll need:

- blank note cards and envelopes (or construction paper/cardstock and envelopes)

- colored paper, scrapbook paper, wrapping paper scraps or even ripped out magazine pages

- glitter or glitter pens (because I like a little razzle dazzle)

- scissors and/or paper punches if you have them

- glue (I used both Elmer’s glue and a glue gun)

- thin ribbon

- black ink pen

1. Using scissors or a round paper punch cut out circles from your paper. Ornaments come in all shapes and sizes so they don’t have to be perfect circles nor do they need to be the same exact size. Make about 3 or 4.

2. Using the Elmer’s glue and glitter decorate your ornaments. You can either cover the entire ornament in glue and cover with glitter or do fun designs. If you don’t have glitter you can use glitter pens to decorate as you please. Let the ornaments dry and shuffle off the excess glitter.

3. Once all your ornaments are dry glue them to your card. I wanted to give the appearance that they were hanging at different lengths so I glued them at different lengths to the card.

4. Using your black ink pen draw the metal caps on top of the bulbs and string for them to hang from. These can be colored in or left in black and white.

5. For that little extra something that I love oh so much I made a tiny bow and, using the tiniest bit of hot glue to ensure it wouldn’t come off, attached it to the top of the ornament.

6. There is no step six! You’re all done! Wasn’t that easy? You can also use this same concept to make presents, a snowman, snowflakes or a Christmas tree! Don’t think you’re crafty enough to tackle even this? You can always grab some cute washii tape and little Christmas themed polaroids (using…oh I don’t know…the Fuji Instax Mini you could win from Shawni’s giveaway!) and tape them to the front of the card! Have fun and I hope this season brings you lots of joy and cheer!

It's true. I am a country girl through and through. I just can't help it. While I love all sorts of music, country just gets me.

I bought this dress in May. I STILL couldn't figure out how to style it. So I threw it in my overnight bag and tried to figure it all out. I hope it worked out. You tell me.

Hello lovers. Happy Monday. It sure doesn't feel like Monday, does it? I hope you all had an amazing weekend with you families. Tell me what you did! I would love to hear.

I am so thankful. This year has just flown by. I can't believe it. I do have to say that I feel so lucky and so blessed. the perfect potato...

I love mashed potatoes. Up until about 5 years ago, that and turkey was all you could find on my thanksgiving plate. It's true, I am a carb girl through and through. So I am sharing with you MY recipe for the perfect mashed potatoes.

You will need:
-1 bag red potatoes
-1 cup heavy cream
-1 whole garlic head
-Butter to taste (room temperature mixes best)

How you do it:
-Cut the top "sprout" off of your garlic head so that all the cloves are exposed. Drizzle olive oil, salt, and pepper onto the cloves and wrap in aluminum foil. Place in the oven for about 45 minutes. Keep your oven at 350 degrees.
-Cook your red potatoes in a pot with salty boiling water until smashable
-Heat heavy cream to warm in a pot on the stove.
-After straining potatoes, place in a bowl and smash with a potato masher.
-Slowly mix in your heavy cream and butter to taste.
-Take your roasted garlic and squeeze the cloves out. Mix into potatoes.

something to snack on...

As promised, this week's posts are MOSTLY devoted to Thanksgiving. I read your comments and I realize a lot of you don't like turkey. No worries little lovies... What follows are two types a brussel spout side dishes and a delicious little snack for in between holiday cooking. Even if you're not in charge of the meal, feel free to share. From my heart to yours... love love love.

Brussel Sprouts with Meyer Lemon, Bacon, and Blue Cheese

-Slice your sprouts several times vertically. About four times actually.
-Get a cast iron skillet blazing hot.
-Throw in your sprouts and caramelize them for about 2 minutes.
-Throw in some already cooked bacon slices. You can cook the bacon on a sheet tray before. At any time and on any given day IF you decide to do prep work ahead of schedule.
-Take some Meyer Lemon slices (only a few) and throw them into the pan.
-Cook a few minutes. You will see your sprouts become leafy.
-Mix in Blue Cheese crumbles.

Brussel Sprouts with Cranberries, Walnuts, and Blue Cheese

-Quarter your sprouts. Before doing so, make sure that you're pulling off any loose leaves.
-Place in screaming hot cast iron skillet.
-Cook and caramelize for 3 minutes.
-Throw in some cranberries.
-Cook until your spouts are soft, but firm. I know, this makes no sense now, but you'll know when it's time.
-Mix in Blue Cheese and Walnuts.
-Enjoy

Candied Pecans-
-Preheat oven to 225
-In a bowl, mix one egg white with one TB water until you have a foamy mix
-In another bowl, mix 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon salt.
-Add 1 lb pecans to the egg white foam and gently coat
-Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top and stir to combine
-Bake pecans on a baking sheet for about an hour, stirring ever 15 minutes or so.
-Serve warm of keep up to 3 days

I LOVE THANKSGIVING!

More than any other holiday. and so i have decided to share some of my SUPER top favorite holiday cooking traditions for the next three days! And if there is ONE thing you MUST know about Thanksgiving....

BRINE YOUR TURKEY!!

Brining your turkey promises a SUPER moist, delicious turkey. Most people don't know how important of a step this is! Or how easy. The salt in the brine causes the meat tissue to break down and absorb the juices and flavors of your brine.

Here's how you do it!....

Grab a stockpot and combine these items:
-1 cup salt
-1 gallon apple cider
-1/2 cup brown sugar
-Sage stems (save the leaves for cooking)
-A handful of peppercorns
-A half handful of juniper berries (optional)
-Rosemary sprigs
-2 Lemons sliced in half
-Bay leaves
-Cold water to the top.

Submerge your turkey 100 percent. Cover and place in your fridge for 24 hours. Remove when you begin your holiday cooking.

weekday risotto

I love cooking. More than anything. So cooking for Andy is my favorite thing to do. It was a weeknight, and usually we would just grab dinner OUT but i wanted to make him dinner IN. so i set to work on some risotto. Andy loves chicken and he loves lemon. here's what i made...

LEMON RISOTTO WITH BAKED CHICKEN AND BROCCOLI

First you chop up an onion. a whole onion. you need the natural sweetness of this baby. Then you mince up a few cloves of garlic.

Melt 4 TBs of butter. Toast up a few handfuls of arborio rice. Lightly. You don't want brown, you just want a nice nutty flavor from the rice.

Have a good amount of chicken of vegetable stock in a pan, warm.

Deglaze your pan with white wine if you have any laying around. Spoon in a few scoops of stock once your risotto is looking nutty. Season lightly. Always season as you go. This builds depth.

Reduce your stock in the risotto pan. Then add a little more. Stir Stir Stir. That's the secret to risotto.
Once you're risotto is getting soft enough to still be chewy, add butter and Parmesan until you get a creamy mixture. The stirring and adding of stock BEFORE will take about 25 minutes. Risotto takes time, but its worth it.

At the last minute i threw in some fresh baby spinach and lemon zest and juice.

I also boiled some broccoli and then finished it by baking it in the oven with olive oil, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.

I marinated my chicken in olive oil, fresh thyme, and lemon zest. I seared it in a VERY hot pan on both sides, and then finished it in a 350 degree oven.

ENJOY.

Andy boy cleaned up and ate it all up. best feeling in the world.

i love wine. like, too much. that being said i was BEYOND stoked when Andy invited me along on a little wine tasting trip for his brother Jason's birthday.

it was a perfect day. and i hate to abuse that word, but it really was perfect. Andy and i never ever have a whole day off together so we really enjoyed it. Jason's girlfriend Kristin packed the most amazing lunch and Derek and Stephanie brought their two beautiful little girls.

i used my Rebel for the very first time....

Keep The Girl

I had one really long, really weird dream last night. I usually don't remember them when I wake up, but this was has stuck with me. I also NEVER remember what I am wearing in my dreams, but for some odd reason I was wearing THIS shirt. It still had the tags on it, and I had almost forgotten about it, but since it popped up in my dreams, I decided to get a little creative. Lately I have been too lazy for makeup, I have been giving my skin some time to breathe.

I also did my hair last night! ALL ON MY OWN. Yes, I have red palms. But I really liked the grown out look and decided to save myself some money and try it out myself.

Tumblr Tuesday

I used to have a Tumblr. I have mostly forgotten about it. Until today. I was filling out some questions for an interview with a blog sponsor and it somehow came up. I miss my Tumblr. Before I worried about drafting out posts and attaching photos. Before I worried about comments or how many followers I had. I used to just write. All of it. All my feelings, and all of my dreams.

I want to get back to this a little bit. I want to look back on my blog posts and know exactly how I was feeling that day. And so Tumblr Tuesday is born.

Each post has a song title. I blog to that song on repeat. Music is such a huge part of my life and I find that it inspires me more than anything else.

"you be the anchor that keeps my feet on the ground, ill be the wings that keep your heart in the clouds"

I have blogged to this song before. It's funny to hear it again. I haven't listened to it since April 16th. Aren't dates amazing? Especially when you keep track of them?

I am scared a lot lately. In the best sort of way. i am not really sure where life is taking me, but I feel excited for it. For the challenges that it will bring. I feel lucky to have the opportunities that I have in front of me at the moment. I like to complain about them, but really, I feel lucky. So lucky. Luckier than I could really say out loud, That being said, I think that I am trying to do TOO much. I need to slow life down a little. Something has to go, and I already know what that is. Of course, I am scared, but I need more TIME in my life. I need a better schedule and I need to refocus my life. I feel tired all the time. And I am far too young for that. The problem is, I want to do everything. But I am slowly learning that I am not superwoman.

There are three things that I want before anything else...
-sleep
-20 sales
-a closer relationship with God

I fall asleep thanking God for His blessings, but I can't remember the last time I cracked open my Bible.
